Stanley Cup Visits Ventura County

Posted on Thursday, September 6, 2012 3:02pm

Hundreds of people turned out in Ventura County today to see professional hockey’s highest honor.

The Stanley Cup was displayed at hockey rinks in Oxnard, and Simi Valley. The team which wins the Cup gets to hold onto it for a year. The Los Angeles Kings won that honor for the first time in the franchise’s history by beating the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The original Cup, which dates back to the 1890’s, is at the Hockey Hall of Fame, in Canada. A silver and nickel replica which is always accompanied by guards is what you see on television, and what teams get for a year when they win the cup.
