The City of Santa Barbara is now soliciting names for its new airport terminal, after some proposals to name the facility prompted officials to set up some criteria, and a process to submit ideas.
The naming concept brought dozens of people to a Santa Barbara City Council meeting in July, with different names being proposed. The City Council decided that rather than voting on the spot, it should open the process to everyone with ideas.
The criteria includes a name which celebrates the culture, and history of Santa Barbara, or state history, or a person who has made outstanding contributions to the community.
People with ideas should send them to Santa Barbara’s Airport Director, along with an explanation of the reason for the nomination. The Santa Barbara City Council will then decide the issue at its October 30th meeting.
