This month marks the 70th anniversary of a key invasion which stopped the tide of Japanese successes in the Pacific during World War Two, and allowed the United States to start on the road to ultimate victory.
The Battle of Guadacanal is an almost forgotten chapter of history. But, Paul Dupre of Port Hueneme remembers it clearly. The now 98 year old retired Marine was in the middle of the bloody campaign.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco talks with Dupre, who will speak about the battle at a commemorative event in Santa Barbara this week.
