Ventura firefighters, and paramedics teamed up today for an unusual rescue involving an injured man weighing more than 300 pounds, who couldn’t be moved from the third floor of a motel by traditional means.
Emergency personnel were called to the motel on the 400 block of East Main Street at around ten this morning. The injured man, in his 50′s, had suffered a possible fractured leg, and hip dislocation. He had to have a full body splint. But, a gurney was too big to fit in an elevator, and too large to carry him down a narrow stairwell.
The emergency workers rigged up a series of ropes to lower him down the stairwell. The man is reported to be in stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center.
