Ventura firefighters, and Harbor Patrol officers made a dramatic rescue, plucking a man clinging to a piling under the Ventura Pier out of the ocean.
It happened just before 7 p.m. Friday. Firefighters were called to the north side of the pier by reports of a man clinging to a piling. Fire Department, and Harbor Patrol swimmers performed a water rescue, pulling the man off the piling, and getting him to a Harbor Patrol boat.
The man wasn’t injured, but was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Witnesses told police say the man had mentioned he was making a suicide attempt before jumping into the ocean.
