A Ventura County man has been convicted of shooting to death a convenience store clerk during a robbery attempt.

Prosecutors say in the early morning hours of December 26th, 2008 Gregorio Aguilar entered a Circle K store in Ventura, and demanded money from a clerk. The clerk, Sean Odle, called 911, but the now 22 year old Fillmore man shot him to death.

Aguilar was found guilty of first degree murder with special circumstances, including the fact the murder happened during a robbery attempt, and a firearm was used. He was also convicted of two other armed robberies in December of 2008.

Aguilar could face life in prison, without the possibility of parole when he’s sentenced next month.
