Santa Barbara Suspends Some Parking Restrictions To Accomondate 100,000 People Expected For Fiesta Historical Parade Today

Posted on Friday, August 3, 2012 12:32am

Here’s something you don’t hear police say often: They won’t be enforcing some of their parking limits today.

The City of Santa Barbara is suspending the usual 75, and 90 minute time limits for curbside parking to accommodate the 100,000 spectators expected for the Old Spanish Days historical parade, which begin at noon. The normal limits on designated streets will be lifted from 9 a.m., to 6 p.m.

People using parking structures will still have to pay as usual, and parking regulations for special zones like green, red, and yellow zones will still be enforced.

The parade begins on Cabrillo Boulevard, at West Beach starting at noon, and turns up State Street, moving through downtown Santa Barbara before ending at Sola Street.
