Posted on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 12:40am

A healthcare system which is managing health care services for about 100,000 Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Ventura County has picked a new CEO.

Gold Coast Health Plan officials announced the hiring of Michael Engelhard as Chief Executive Officer. Engelhard has more than 20 years experience as a health care executive, and has been serving as the interim
CEO of a managed health care system in Orange County that’s similar to Ventura County’s.

Gold Coast’s start-up CEO, Earl Greenia, resigned several months after the non-profit organization went online, amid controversy about its operations.

Engelhard is set to take over his new post on September 1st. Gold Coast is intended to provide better care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries, while also saving money through improved efficiency.
