Posted on Monday, July 23, 2012 2:58pm

An off-duty Santa Paula police officer is dead, and two other people were injured after an SUV flipped north of Somis, in what the CHP is calling a DUI related crash involving another officer.

A jeep was on South Mountain Lookout Road, near Coyote Canyon Road just after 9 Sunday night when the driver lost control of it on a curve, and the vehicle rolled.

Kimberly Hemminger was pronounced dead at the scene. The 33 year old Santa Paula woman had been a Santa Paula Police officer for five years.

Two other passengers received minor injuries.

CHP officers say the driver, identified as Christopher Blankenship of Santa Paula, was arrested for vehicular manslaughter, and a DUI charge. Blankenship is a reserve officer with the Santa Paula Police Department.

None of the people in the jeep were wearing seat belts.
