You know how you can boil water to make it safe to drink?
A Bay Area company, and the City of Ventura are trying something like that on a much grander scale.
They’re experimenting with a system which uses heat, instead of chemicals like chlorine to purify wastewater, so it can be recycled.
In a now six month old test project, gas generated by waste at the plant is being used to turn a turbine, and make electricity, with the spinoff heat being
used to purify water.
The goal is a more environmentally friendly way to deal with sewage.
