Man Wanted In 1994 Molestation Case In Santa Barbara County Arrested In Guatemala

Posted on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 11:39am

A fugitive wanted for a nearly two decade old molestation case in Santa Barbara County has been found, and arrested in Guatemala.

Jeffrey Reed Parish is accused of molesting a four year old girl in Carpinteria in 1994. He was initially arrested, but while out on bail fled the country. It was thought he went to Mexico, which he frequently visited, but the case went cold.

Last year, detectives with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Felony Fugitive Unit, and the FBI began reexamining Parish’s case. They developed information which led FBI agents to a small town in Guatemala, where Parish, living under another name, was found, and arrested without incident.

The Guatemalan government ordered Parish deported. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department detectives, and FBI agents traveled to Guatemala, and brought the now 65 year old man back to the U.S., where he was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Detectives think Parish may have molested others during his time in Santa Barbara County during the early 90′s, and are looking for more possible victims.
