Simi Valley Police say a auto thief picked the wrong vehicle to steal, because it was equipped with an automatic tracking device.

An officer on patrol at around 10:30 this morning received a stolen car LoJack notification in his patrol car. Moments later, an LAPD helicopter notified Simi Valley Police they were tracking a stolen vehicle headed into the city on the 118 Freeway.

The vehicle got off the freeway at Stearns Street, but it failed to stop for intercepting units. A short chase ended near Ralston Street, and Los Angeles Avenue, where the man stopped, and fled on foot, but was arrested nearby.

22 year old Thomas Andew Nashed of Simi Valley was arrested on five different charges, ranging from auth theft to probation violation.
