Two family owned agricultural companies which are among the largest growers in Ventura County are looking past the green in their fields, to operating green in their processing facilities.

The two companies have installed some of the latest in sustainable energy technologies at their Oxnard facilities.

The new installations include a storage battery system the size of a tennis court at Gills Onions. And, at neighboring Duda Farm Fresh Foods, they’ve added 37,000 square feet of solar panels to help power their produce processing facilities.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco has more on the cutting edge efforts of the two local ag company operations.
