Two Ventura men are facing multiple charges after police say they caught them early this morning trying to burglarize a high school.
Ventura Police responding to a burglary alarm at Buena High School around one this morning saw someone with a flashlight inside the school’s cafeteria. Officers set up a perimeter around the school, and arrested Matthew Merrion, and Daniel Stocks. Investigators say the two men had set some vending machines on fire, to get money out of them.
Ventura firefighters were called to get the smoke from the fires out of the building.
The two men are facing burglary, arson, conspiracy, and in Stocks case, parole violation charges. There’s no word on whether police think the two are suspects in a series of similar other vending machines fires at Ventura and Oxnard schools, and parks.
