Victim, Murder Suspect Identified In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Ventura County

Authorities are now identifying the victim, and the man they believe was the killer in a murder-suicide in Ventura Count.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 17000 block of East Telegraph Road, outside of Santa Paula around 10 a.m. Sunday, by reports of a fight in progress. They arrived to find the body of a man lying in the street. That man is now being identified as Jose Ramirez Garcia, of Santa Paula. The 22 year old man had been stabbed, and shot.

Witnesses reported seeing a man involved in the fight run to a trailer on the 100 block of Ferris Lane. After negotiators unsuccessfully spent hours trying to make contact with the man, a SWAT team went into the trailer, and found his body. He’s being identified as 24 yea old Tereso de Jesus Gutierrez, also of Santa Paula.

Investigators say they are unsure of the relationship between the men, or what led to the murder-suicide.
