Registered Sex Offender Accused Ok Kidnapping, Raping Santa Barbara Woman

Posted on Monday, June 11, 2012 5:07pm

A registered sex offender is back behind bars in Santa Barbara, after police say he violated a restraining order, and kidnapped, and raped a 22-year-old woman he knew.

Santa Barbara Police detectives say Jorge Luis Diaz abducted the victim last Wednesday as she was headed to work, and drove both of them to Los Angeles, where he assaulted her in a motel room.

They say he then drove her back to Santa Barbara, and released her after asking her to promise not to report the incident to police.

Police arrested the 26 year old man last Thursday at a South Canada Street home in Santa Barbara, where they say they found evidence linking him to the sex crimes, as well as drug paraphernalia.

The Santa Barbara man told investigators that the woman had gone willingly with him to Los Angeles, and that the sex had been consensual.
