Voters picked one outright winner, and set the stage for some November runoffs in State Assembly races in our region.

In the 37th Assembly District, which includes parts of Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties, Democratic incumbent Das Williams defeated Republican challenger Rob Walter by a 56% to 44% margin, for an outright win.

In the 44th District, which includes parts of Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties, Republican incumbent Jeff Gorrell, just back from a year long military deployment in Afghanistan, was the top vote-getter, with 58% of the vote. He’ll face Democrat Eileen MacEnery, who got 24% of the vote, in November.

And, in the 38th District, which includes a slice of eastern Ventura County, as well as part of Los Angeles County, Democrat Edward Headington, and Republican Scott Thomas Wilk emerged from a field of four to face each other in November.
