Work is starting on a controversial project to try to restore a scenic coastal lagoon disrupted by human impacts over the decades.
It’s a radical plan which calls for removing some endangered species, and then bulldozing about 12 acres of wetlands, so they can be re-created to create natural tidal flows.
A decade of planning went into the Malibu Lagoon project, but some protesters contend the idea doesn’t make sense, and won’t work.
