A Goleta man has been sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole for murdering his brother, and his brother’s girlfriend.
Corey Lyons shot to death Daniel Lyons, and Barbara Scharton in May of 2009 in their Santa Barbara home. Prosecutors say a legal feud between the brothers over a home, which the killer had lost, led to the murders.
Lyons was sentenced to two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole, with a 50 year enhancement.
It was the third trial in the case, with the first ending in a mistrial, and the second ending with a hung jury.
