Posted on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 10:37am

Plans have been announced for a public memorial service for a popular community leader in the Conejo Valley who died earlier this month.

Former Thousand Oaks City Councilman, and Planning Commissioner Tom Glancy died May 18th as a result of cancer.

Glancy served three decades in the Navy before moving to Thousand Oaks, where he opened a dental practice. He was involved with numerous community groups before being appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council in 2005, and was then elected to a full term in 2008. The 71 year old councilman resigned from the council just days before his condition worsened, and he died.

The community service will take place at 3 p.m. this coming Saturday, at the Los Robles Greens Golf Course banquet facility.
