Today is officially the start of high brushfire danger season on the South Coast.
The Ventura County, and Santa Barbara County Fire Departments, along with the Los Padres National Forest are officially stepping up their staffing, and preparedness levels to high fire season today.
Some local agencies actually beefed up staffing earlier this week, because of the hot, dry weather we’ve been having. Firefighters say it could be a tough next few months, because of a below average rainfall season.
The Forest Services say it will have full time staffing during high fire season at the air tanker reload base in Santa Maria, to help with a quick airborne response to brushfires.
