Georgia is a small democracy just south of Russia, bordering the Black Sea.
Georgia declared independence from the Soviet Union in 2001. It’s survived civil and economic turmoil, as well as a brief war with Russia to become one of the region’s newest flourishing democracies.
This week, the President of Georgia visited Ventura County, to say thanks to the United States for its support, and to pay tribute to Ronald Reagan, who inspired the leaders of the breakaway effort. KCLU’s Lance Orozco has the story, from Simi Valley.
