Authorities Identify Man Arrested In Connection With Shooting Of Two In Ventura County

Posted on Friday, May 25, 2012 10:50am

Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives are now identifying a man they say shot two Piru residents, and then was involved in an hours long standoff with authorities before surrendering.

Mark Anthony Plunkett of Piru was arrested on two counts of attempted murder, for what investigators are calling gang related shootings.

Two men were shot in the Piru Square area of the community around 4:30 yesterday afternoon. One man was seriously wounded, and a second suffered a minor gunshot wound.

Deputies identified Plunkett as a suspect in the shooting, and discovered he had barricaded himself in a trailer. The Sheriff’s department SWAT team was called out, as were negotiators. After hours of negotiations, the 33 year old man surrendered at around 10:30 last night. The names of the shooting victims haven’t been released.
