One of UC Santa Barbara’s most famous graduates has made a big donation to establish an endowed chair for the Dean of Humanities and Fire Arts in the College of Letters and Science.
Actor Michael Douglas has pledged $500,000 for the chair.
The money will support teaching, research, and programs in the humanities and fine arts.
Douglas graduated from UCSB in 1968 with a degree in dramatic art. He is currently honorary chair of the University’s multiyear one billion dollar fundraising campaign.
