Less than a week after he resigned from office because of health issues, a well known community leader in the Conejo Valley has died.
Former Thousand Oaks Mayor, and City Councilman Tom Glancy lost his battle with cancer.
Glancy was a Captain in the Navy for three decades, retiring to Thousand Oaks, where he opened a successful dental practice. He served on the Conejo Valley Days Committee, and on the local YMCA Board of Directors. In 2005, he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Thousand Oaks City Council, and in 2008, was elected to a full term. He was known for his efforts to acquire more open space for the community, to ease congestion of the 23 Freeway, and to rebuild the Thousand Oaks Boulevard business corridor.
He resigned earlier this week because of his declining health. Tom Glancy was 71 years old.
