California is America’s avocado basket, producing more than 90 percent of U.S. grown avocados. And, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties produce the majority of the state’s crop.
But, there’s concern among many local growers about a potential new threat to avocados.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports that for the first time, a tiny insect carrying a fungus which can destroy avocado trees has been discovered in California.
