The project to add carpool lanes to the 101 Freeway in sections of Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties is causing some major impacts on traffic this week.
During the overnight hours, the 101 Freeway is being reduced from two lanes, to one lane of traffic between the Mobil Oil Pier, to near Casitas Pass Road.
Both northbound lanes reopened at six this morning after the overnight work, but the closed southbound lane isn’t expected to reopen until about nine a.m. Crews are working in the center median.
Also, the pedestrian walkway under the freeway from La Conchita, to the ocean is closed while crews begin work on efforts to enlarge the passageway. The closures will be in effect again overnight tonight, and overnight tomorrow.
