The Defense Department has confirmed that a member of the Green Beret who grew up in Ventura County, and graduated from high school in Simi Valley has been killed in Afghanistan.
Andrew Britton-Mihalo died on April 25th at an Army base in Kandahar.
Officials aren’t releasing details about how the 25 year old died, but other media reports say he, and another man died, and three others were wounded when an Afghan soldier opened fire on the base. That soldier was shot, and killed.
Britton-Mihalo was assigned to a special forces unit based in Florida. He was a graduate of Simi Valley’s Royal High School.
