A longtime legislator who represented Ventura County in Sacramento for two decades has died.
Cathie Wright died on Saturday, following a long illness.
Wright served from 1980, to 2000 in the State Legislature, serving eastern Ventura County.
She served 12 years in the Assembly, and eight years as a State Senator.
In 1994, the Republican lawmaker unsuccessfully ran for Lieutenant Governor. Wright had a reputation as a bulldog on fiscal matters, and was well known for her tough questions about budget issues. She was 82 years old.
