Ventura County has stepped up to prepare the county for the potential of a tsunami.
This week, the National Weather Service certified the county as being “Tsunami Ready”.
The designation is recognition of the county’s efforts ranging from public education, to the placement of warning signs which would be considered high risk in the event of a tsunami warning.
The county has a formal tsunami plan in place, which lays out preparations the county would make if there was a tsunami watch, or actual warning issued which might require evacuations.
