101 Freeway Widening Project Near Ventura-Santa Barbara County Line Will Mean Lane Closures, And Potential Traffic Congestion

Posted on Friday, April 13, 2012 1:41pm

Work is set to get underway starting on Sunday night on a section of the 101 Freeway on the South Coast where carpool lanes will be built, and it could have a big impact on morning commuters.

Crews will be working on both the northbound, and southbound 101 between Mobil Pier Road, to Casitas Pass Road. The crews will be working during the overnight hours for the next two weeks.

One of the two lanes in each direction will be closed during the work, so you may experience delays, especially on the southbound 101, because the overnight work on that side of the freeway will continue until about 9 in the morning.

The initial work calls for k-rails to be placed on both sides of the center median, to protect construction workers in later phases of the project.

As the k-rails are being laid, the median crossing at La Conchita will be permanently closed.
