A fire damaged a classroom, and forced the evacuation of a Ventura elementary school today.
It happened just after noon, in a classroom at Elmhurst Elementary School, on the 5000 block of Elmhurst Street. Students had left the classroom, and were at lunch when the blaze erupted.
The school was evacuated as a precaution, but no one was hurt. Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
