Woman Arrested After Seven Hour Standoff With “SWAT” Team In Ventura

Posted on Monday, April 9, 2012 11:42am

Authorities are trying to figure out why a Ventura woman went on a shooting spree in her home, leading to a “SWAT” team incident which last for seven hours.

It started just before 4 p.m. yesterday, on the 7900 hundred block of Stone Street.
Police say they responded to the scene after neighbors reported screaming, and several shots were fired in a home.

Part of the neighborhood was evacuated.

Officers tried to make contact with the woman in the home, who at first refused to make contact with them, and then refused to surrender.

The SWAT team then used tear gas, but even that didn’t work.

The SWAT team finally entered the house just after 10:30 last night, and took Wendy Rorke into custody, after using a taser to stun her.

The 54 year old woman is facing a charge of negligent discharge of a firearm.
