Child Taken Into Protective Custody After Methamphetamine Den Discovered In Santa Barbara

Posted on Friday, April 6, 2012 12:44am

Santa Barbara Police detectives serving a search warrant on the home of a suspected auto thief say they found a methamphetamine den, and rescued a 15-month old boy wearing only a dirty diaper.

Investigators say the drug den was in a shed behind a home on the 500 block of Myrtle Avenue.

They say there were two glass meth pipes, and a cup being used as a urinal next to the boy.

They arrested the child’s mother, identified as 26 year old Amanda Rose Powers.

Detectives say she was high on methamphetamine, and delusional.

The little boy is now in the custody of Santa Barbara County Child Protective Services.

Police didn’t find the original man they’d been trying to find.
