Good Samaritans Help Catch Suspect In Oxnard Hit And Run Accident Which Injures Youngster

Police say some Good Samaritains stopped to help a youngster injured in an Oxnard hit and run accident Saturday night, and helped track down the driver responsible.

A 10 year old boy was riding a bike through the intersection of Santa Lucia Avenue, and Rose Avenue just after 7:30 Saturday night when he was hit by a pickup truck. Another vehicle, with five Oxnard residents saw the accident, and stopped. Two of the people in the jumped out to help, while the remaining three gave chase in their vehicle.

They called 911, and followed the vehicle, which Oxnard police stopped at Channel Islands Boulevard, and DuPont Street. 54 year old Raul Rivera was arrested for felony hit and run, and for driving without a license.

The injured youngsters suffered moderate injuries, but is expected to survive. Police say the boy was trying to cross the intersection on a green light.
