Threats of a high school campus shooting being spread through social media prompted police in one Ventura County community to beef up security.
Simi Valley High School officials notified police after hearing about the rumor appearing in text messages today.
Police say the rumor was traced backed to a statement on a website.
No problems were reported on the campus.
The school notified parents about the rumor, and told them that the school had notified police, and taken other steps to insure the safety of students.
