A Santa Barbara butcher has been arrested on charges he was dealing drug out of the market where he worked.
Detectives say they received information that Isidro Diaz Vasquez had been selling cocaine, and methamphetamine out of the Chapala Market, which is on the 600 block of North Milpas Street.
Following an investigation, investigators arrested the 49 year old man while he was driving to work.
The say they found drugs in his vehicle, and at his home, and discovered a scale used to weigh drugs at the market.
Detectives say Vasquez admitted being a dealer, and that he said he had been accepting stolen property like I-pods and laptop computers in exchange for drugs.
They say that Chapala Market was unaware of the drug dealing activity.
The investigation also led to the arrest of a second butcher with the market, identified as Artemio Cazares Ortega, for being under the influence of drugs, and for an unsettled arrest warrant.
