Ventura Man Arrested For Multiple Grocery Store Robberies

Posted on Monday, March 19, 2012 9:16am

Police say they’ve arrested a man who robbed two grocery stores within minutes of each other in Ventura.

It started around 7 last night, when a man armed with a knife robbed a clerk at Sam’s Central Market, on the 500 block of North Ventura Avenue.  The clerk was unhurt, and the robber fled on a bicycle.

Police responding to the robbery started searching the area, and ran into Henry Levine as he was leaving Lee’s Groceries, which is just a few blocks away, on the 400 block of North Olive Street.  Officers say Levine tried to flee when he saw officers, but was arrested after a short struggle.

After the 29 year old man was in custody, the clerk at Lee’s Groceries told officers he had also been robbed at knifepoint.  Levine was arrested for robbery, and for being under the influence of drugs.
