The parent company of a Santa Barbara County based wind power technology business says it’s putting the Carpinteria firm on the market.
United Technologies says it’s planning to sell Clipper Windpower, and some of its other small companies to raise cash for the purchase of an aerospace firm.
Clipper Windpower makes wind turbines for power generation, and at one point had some 200 employees locally.
United Technologies bought a controlling interest in Clipper in 2010, and eventually purchased the whole thing.
United makes helicopters, and jet engines, and wants to buy a major aerospace parts maker to strengthen its core business.
