Ventura County has dropped a controversial effort to reach a labor agreement which would encourage local hiring for construction of a $250 million dollar new wing for the Ventura County Medical Center, because of the many complications surrounding different unions, companies, and labor groups involved in the effort. County Supervisors had set a March 13th deadline to reach a deal on what’s known as a “Project Labor Agreement”, with officials noting that delays are costing some $400,000 a month.
