A Ventura County woman has been sentenced to more than two years in jail for a fatal hit and run traffic accident last year in the San Fernando Valley.
Prosecutors say Dominique Rush of Oxnard was driving a car which struck, and killed German Alex Romero last April, as he was riding his bicycle on De Soto Avenue, in Canoga Park. Romero was a popular soccer player at a Woodland Hills High School. She fled the scene, but was later tracked down, and arrested. The 23 year old pled no contest to vehicular manslaughter, and felony hit and run, and was sentenced to 32 months in jail.
Her father, Steven Rush, was sentenced to 10 days in jail, and three years probation after he pled no contest to a charge of being an accessory to the crime. Prosecutors say he tried to conceal her involvement in the accident.
