The City of Ventura looked just a few miles up the 101 Freeway, to Santa Barbara, to find a new City Clerk.
Ventura hired Cynthia Rodriguez as its new City Clerk. Rodriguez has been City Clerk for the City of Santa Barbara since 2005, and has worked in public service 27 years. Earlier in her career, she worked for the City of Ventura.
The Ventura post has been technically vacant for a year. Mabi Plisky held the position for nearly seven years, but a year ago was promoted to Deputy City Manager. Elaine Preston has served as interim City Clerk for the last year.
Rodriguez was chosen from a field of ten applicants for the 126,000 thousand dollar a year job.
