Ventura County authorities say they’ve solved a more than decade old kidnapping, and sexual assault case.
In August of 2001, a 17 year Japanese exchange student was kidnapped by a man as she was walking in the area or Rose Avenue, and Lindsey Place in Oxnard.
She was taken to another location, where two men raped her, and then let her go.
DNA helped Oxnard Police quickly identify one suspect, identified as Martin Hernandez Padilla, but the second DNA sample was a mystery.
They couldn’t find Padilla at the time, but last month, Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies realized they had him in custody on another charge.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s office questioned the now 32 year old man, which led them to arrest a second person, Oswaldo Hernandez Pinaloza.
Oxnard Police say the men may be responsible for other similar abductions, and sexual assaults, and are looking for more possible victims.
