Some college students from Ventura County were among the hundreds from throughout the state in Sacramento Wednesday, to protest proposed cuts in Cal Grant awards for students at independent nonprofit colleges.
Cal Grants go to students in need, and can be used for things like tuition, books, and room and board.
Alisha Monroe is part of a five member student delegation from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, which could see one sixth of its undergraduate student body affected if the proposal is adopted:

If approved, the Governor’s proposed cuts would take place this fall, potentially affecting 30,000 students statewide. CLU is the parent of KCLU Radio.
