A former South Coast assemblywoman has officially announced her bid for a State Senate seat in the region.
Hanna Beth Jackson signed papers in Santa Barbara yesterday to run for the State Senate’s 19th District. The Democrat served six terms in the State Assembly from 1998 to 2004. In 2008, she narrowly lost a bid for the 19th District seat to Republican Tony Strickland. Strickland is running for the new 26th District Congressional Seat, creating a vacancy for the State Senate seat.
Former Santa Barbara County Supervisor Mike Stoker says he will formally announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the seat at multiple news conferences on Wednesday.
