Ventura Police Say K-9 Nabs Vehicle Burglar Trying To Escape

Ventura Police say a man caught in the act of burglarizing a car turned out to be no match for a K-9 dog, as the man tried to flee on foot.

Police received a report of a car being burglarized on the 200 block of Homer Avenue at around 9:30 last night.  Officers arrived to find a man trying to remove items from a parked vehicle.  As they tried to take the man into custody, he fled, was was chased down a short distance away by a K-9 dog.

After being treated for minor injuries, police say they booked 28 year old Padriac Murphy of Ojai for charges including auto theft, vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.  They say he was responsible for at least three vehicle break-ins, including the theft of one vehicle.
