Ventura County firefighters rescued a teenager who got stuck in an old abandoned water cistern at Cal State Channel Islands, in Camarillo.
It happened at around six last night (2/26). A group of five teens used a rope to climb about 20 feet down into the wooden cistern, which is located in an old abandoned dairy complex.
They started a fire inside to stay warm, but the smoke apparently became too much for the group. When the teens tried to get out of the cistern, a 14 year old boy fell, and couldn’t get out.
Other teens went for help.
Firefighters put out the fire, and rescued the teen.
Three of the teens were taken to a hospital to be checked, but no serious injuries were reported.
