South Coast Assemblyman Introduces Green Energy Legislation

Posted on Monday, February 27, 2012 7:43pm

A South Coast assemblyman has introduced some proposed new state laws  which he says are intended to promote green energy technology.

Democratic Assemblyman Das Williams of Santa Barbara says AB 2339 would require the State Public Utilities Commission to help clear barriers for geothermal, as well as solar heating, and cooling technologies.

Another bill, AB 2340, would require the PUC to come up with ways for developers of new alternative power facilities to be reimbursed for the costs of upgrades needed to the distribution grid, to handle the energy they create.

Williams represents the 35th Assembly District, which includes parts of Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties.
