An environmental group is threatening legal action over what is says is water pollution stemming from an oil, and gas facility in Ventura County onto some popular beaches.
The Environmental Defense Center claims that the more than 4,000 acre Vintage Production Rincon Grubb Oil Field has consistently reported suspended solids, and other pollutants in excess of water quality stormwater guidelines during the last five years. Runoff from the oil field goes to some of the popular beaches between Seacliff, and Solimar.
Under the Clean Water Act, citizens must first send possible violators a 60 day notice of intent to sue before taking legal action, in order to give them a chance to correct the violation.
Vintage Production officials in Kern County told KCLU they haven’t seen the letter yet, and can’t comment on the claim.
