Ventura County has selected a replacement for the county’s long time chief medical examiner, who’s preparing to retire after nearly two decades of heading the office.
Assistant Chief Medical Examiner Jon Smith will take over for Dr. Ronald O’Halloran, who’s set to retire this summer.
Smith joined the office last summer, after serving as San Francisco’s Assistant Medical Examiner for eight years.
Halloran has been Ventura County’s Chief Medical Examiner since 1993.
